Pedra Bonita Hike

Firstly, this Pedra Bonita Hike will begin with us picking you up from your address around 7:30 am. Then we’ll take a 30-minute ride to the Tijuca National Park to arrive by 8:00 am. The Tijuca Forest is presently the largest urban rainforest in the world! Concurrently, the park and its forest are known as the “Green Lungs” of Rio. This is because of the amazing life-giving role the forest plays in Rio’s ecosystem.

Following our arrival, we’ll commence a 40-minute smooth uphill hike to the summit of the Pedra Bonita. As expected, the views we’ll encounter once we begin our ascent will leave you in utmost awe of Rio city. Once at the top, you’ll get to see the magnificent Pedra da Gavea mountain from the most amazing angle! You’ll also get breathtaking views of the wonderful Dois Irmãos Hill, the beautiful Ipanema and Leblon beaches, and Rio’s splendid West coast.

Along the way, you may encounter some of Tijuca’s friendly and exotically intriguing wildlife, including toucans, coatis, and monkeys. Significantly, you’ll discover the city’s beautiful history as well as that of the Tijuca Forest as you go hiking in Rio. You’ll also learn about the old Brazilian coffee plantations, the 19th-century reforestation projects, and Tijuca’s intricate tropical rainforest ecosystem.

Watch out because you will likely see a few flying thrill seekers. Indeed, Pedra Bonita offers the best spot to go hang gliding in Rio. All of this is accompanied by the broad, sparkling ocean view at the horizon. When this eye-opening summit moment has come to an end, we’ll make our downhill return to the car. On the way, we’ll briefly check out the free flight ramp; exhilarating emotions are guaranteed! This experience can be booked with at least 24-hour notice.
