River Rafting in Rio de Janeiro

First, we’ll pick you up from your address in Rio in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle between 7 and 7:30 am. Then, we’ll commence a 2-hour trip (140 km / 87 mi) to the magnificent mountainous region of Casimiro de Abreu. 

This is one of the most popular whitewater rafting locations in Rio. The area is also well-known for its nature reserves, rivers, waterfalls, hiking and mountain biking trails, and more. 

On arrival at the rafting site (around 9:30 am), you’ll receive a thorough safety briefing. Afterward, each person will be kitted up with all the necessary gear and equipment. Personal belongings such as phones and wallets can be stored safely at our base or in the car, which will be locked and secured. Everyone will then be teamed up into rafts and each raft team will be led by an experienced and certified guide.

Thereafter, you and your raft mates will be on a fun-filled mission to display the best teamwork ever. Of course, this will involve maneuvering through the twists, turns, and natural obstacles of Class II to Class IV rapids. Naturally, the speed of the rapids will depend on the season of the year as well as natural conditions. 

The whitewater route will take you right through the heart of the beautiful region as you proceed. What’s more, this route remains stunning all year round, regardless of the season or weather! So come fully prepared for swift waters, splashing fun, and a splendid adventure.

Note: The course, although slightly challenging, is perfectly safe and raftable for beginners as well as intermediate rafters.

You’ll be picked up by Jeep once the activity is finished to return to the starting point. On arrival at the rafting base, you’ll switch back into our car and we’ll hit the road back to Rio. On the way, you can make a delicious stop at a homemade food restaurant for lunch (not included in the price). Finally, we’ll drop you off at your address around 3:00 pm.

What to Wear

• Only wear shoes with a secure heel strap, tennis shoes, or water shoes
• Wear clothes that will be comfortable when wet (avoid cotton clothes, jeans, etc.). Again, be prepared to get wet! Any quick-dry clothing, polyester, activewear, t-shirts, shorts, or bathing suits are recommended
• No flip-flop sandals are allowed

What to Bring

• A set of dry clothes to change into after the rafting trip, and a towel
• Sunscreen – apply before the trip and apply anywhere not protected by your clothing
• A plastic bag for wet clothes
• Water and snacks for the ride
