Pedra do Telégrafo Hike + Rio’s Wild Beaches

We’ll pick you up from your hotel in Rio by car. Then we’ll commence our trip to Barra de Guaratiba—a westward journey that lasts about 90 minutes. On arrival at the starting point in the Pedra Branca State Park (which is the park that borders our Telegraph Rock), our Pedra do Telégrafo hike begins.

The hike kicks off with a 50-minute moderate-level climb through some of the most stunning landscapes and viewpoints in Rio. However, we can guarantee that the best viewpoint (and one that will be exceedingly familiar to many) is the endpoint of our upward hike—the Telegraph Stone (Pedra do Telégrafo itself).

Here, we’ll be presented with a breathtakingly worthwhile view of Rio’s wild area, including some of the best beaches in Rio. You may also find that you recognize this spot as this is where several “daredevil” photos have been taken by previous travelers. Not to worry because every photo was taken safely. The “daredevil” effect of these photos is a result of the illusion of a daunting abyss that the scenery creates. The entire stop will serve as a hearty preamble to the second half of our tour (optional).

After spending some time soaking in the views from Telegraph Stone, we’ll then hike down to the car. Following a 15-minute drive, we’ll arrive at the gorgeous Grumari beach. Here, everyone gets an hour of free time to take a dip in the crystal blue waters. You get to enjoy one of the best beaches in Rio however you please.

Our second stop afterward is the wild beach known as Prainha*. At the close of a day full of walking and creating glorious memories, you’ll have an hour of free time here as well to grab some delicious, well-deserved food to eat (not included in the tour). Finally, after a day exploring the extraordinary panoramas Rio’s West Zone has to offer, we’ll return and drop you off at your hotel in Rio de Janeiro.
