Sea Kayaking Tour in Rio

To begin, you’ll meet up with the guide at Urca Beach (Praia da Urca) at the chosen time. Then, you will be given a 20-minute run-through of the safety guidelines for this tour. Next, you’ll be suited up in a life vest before you head out to sea. In this activity, we only use ocean kayaks which allow for 2 persons per kayak.

Short Tour

The short tour spans between 1.5 to 2 hours in total. This option involves easy and adapted rowing that is suitable for everyone. Its main location is at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain. After we set off from Praia da Urca, the tour takes us paddling 2.5 km/1.5 miles to the Forte da Laje. This is located at the entrance of Baía de Guanabara. Of course, there’ll be countless spectacular sights to see as you row by. This especially includes beautiful views of the Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain!

Long Tour

The long tour spans between 3 to 4 hours in total. On this tour, we take a remarkable, medium-difficulty route. After we leave Praia da Urca, we’ll set out into more open waters and paddle into remoter areas. Three equally extraordinary itineraries are available on this tour, all depending on the navigation and wind conditions.

The first and usual itinerary bypasses Sugarloaf Mountain and then we disembark at the stunning Praia Vermelha. The second itinerary takes us across the bay to the towering city of Niterói where we can enjoy the idyllic Praia de Adão e Eva. The last itinerary is a simple trip as we’ll only be paddling through the gorgeous, glimmering bay. All three itineraries offer heartwarming interactions with Guanabara’s lush, wild marine life. So keep an eye open for dolphins, turtles, sardines, and lots more as you go!

Finally, on the long tour, we disembark at the beaches for some breezy relaxation to crown the sea kayak experience. After we take some time to rest, we paddle our way back to the starting point.
